On May 20, 2017, we took a major step in how we position our strengths-based programs in higher education:

StrengthsQuest, as a brand, shifted to CliftonStrengths for Students.

Why?

There are few reasons. Chief among them, though, our new book CliftonStrengths for Students hit bookshelves in July 2017.

What's That Mean for You?

We've taken this branding update as an opportunity to make needed improvements to the user experience. You can check out the full list of updates below.

We also took the chance to create a guide to help you update your current StrengthsQuest program and related materials. More on that below, too.

But first ...

What's Not Changing?

Everyone still completes the CliftonStrengths assessment. Everyone still receives the same powerful CliftonStrengths reports. And everyone still can access materials to help develop and use their CliftonStrengths.

We're even leaving the digital version of StrengthsQuest for users to read, as a valuable resource for educators and students alike.

What's Changing?

The CliftonStrengths for Students brand replaces StrengthsQuest.

We started in earnest in 2016, introducing the term "CliftonStrengths" throughout the redesigned strengthsquest.com.

CliftonStrengths is the science of maximizing human potential by developing people to become great at what they're naturally good at.

Anyone who has experienced the StrengthsQuest brand knows that's exactly what the StrengthsQuest product has allowed campuses to achieve since 2002.

Students who have discovered their strengths did so using Gallup's CliftonStrengths online talent assessment. That assessment has fueled everything from Clifton StrengthsFinder and the book StrengthsFinder 2.0 to other bestselling books and programs -- including StrengthsQuest.

As the brand shifts from StrengthsQuest to CliftonStrengths for Students:

  • StrengthsQuest access codes will become CliftonStrengths for Students access codes.
  • The CliftonStrengths for Students book will replace the StrengthsQuest title
  • Other StrengthsQuest materials will take on the new branding.

Speaking of the new book …

You'll Get a Free Digital Version of CliftonStrengths for Students.

All strengthsquest.com users -- past, present and future -- will receive an e-book version of CliftonStrengths for Students later this summer.

The book is an invaluable guide that helps students get the most out of their college experiences.

As the new book begins to replace the pioneering StrengthsQuest (more on that below), Clifton Strengths for Students will be required reading for all campuses looking to develop engaged and thriving students.

Students Have New Ways to Use Their CliftonStrengths.

A key feature in the new book CliftonStrengths for Students is the addition of new action items students can take related to each of their CliftonStrengths Signature Themes.

Additionally, we've taken all of the open-ended reflection questions currently on the site and packaged them in a new resource titled "How Students Can Use Their CliftonStrengths to Succeed."

This editable PDF gives students a series of questions and topics to consider as they begin their CliftonStrengths journey.

Both the new action items and reflection guide are immediately available for anyone with an existing strengthsquest.com account.

Students Can Email Their CliftonStrengths Signature Themes to Others.

Anyone with CliftonStrengths results on strengthsquest.com can email their "top five" to anyone via the site.

Simply sign into your account, click "Email Your CliftonStrengths Report," and type an email address and an optional message.

Students Can Access Their CliftonStrengths Results in 10 Languages.

Strengthsquest.com users can see their Signature Themes Report, Strengths Insight and Action-Planning Guide, and Strengths Insight Report in the following languages:

  • English
  • Español - latinoamerica
  • 简体中文 (普通话)
  • Deutsch
  • Bahasa Indonesia
  • 日本語
  • 한국어
  • ไทย
  • Português - Brasil
  • Nederlands

Administrators Get Updated Ways to Lead Their Programs.

We've updated the Admin Reports, and we've replaced the Team Talent Map with the Team Strengths Grid.

This downloadable Team Strengths Grid lines up for a perfect copy-and-paste from the updated Admin Reports. Admin users can quickly visualize team members' top five in context with each others', and see how the team's CliftonStrengths fall within the four domains of leadership.

What's Your Next Step?

The growth of CliftonStrengths as a powerful part of campus life is due in large part to schools that have embraced StrengthsQuest and built strong programs to bring it to students, faculty and staff.

These programs often have their own unique branding -- positioning that puts Gallup logos and content into a school's visual palette. From websites and online content to printed materials and everything in between, schools have made StrengthsQuest their own.

We want that to continue!

Please use our guide "Shifting From StrengthsQuest to CliftonStrengths for Students" as your reference for branding your CliftonStrengths for Students initiatives.

For many schools, that will mean reviewing and updating your current StrengthsQuest-related materials. If that's you, please download the guide today.

Thank you for all you do to bring the power of CliftonStrengths to your students!
